  • "Nemyrnyi"

Maidan commander of Right Sector "Grenaders" unit

"Nemyrnyi" has always dreamt of becomming a filmmaker, but could not achieve his dreams because of an extremely corrupted system. That is how an art-driven young man had to turn to the path of war to fight for the future for himself and his people.

When I first met guys from Right Sector at Maidan, they asked me if I wanted to bring real changes to the system... I said yes. Then you came to the right place - they said.

Being raised in Eastern Ukraine(Kharkiv), "Nemyrnyi" breaks a stereotype that Ukraine is divided into East and West, were East is a strongly pro-Russian part. Having come to the peaceful protest in November, "Nemyrnyi" wanted to achieve real changes and decided to join Right sector, as in his opinion they were the most determined in their actions.

  • Volodymyr Sevastianov

    Maidan doctor

Volodymyr was an anesthesiologist working in a governmental hospital. He could not stand corruption in healthcare, as he could not fully do his duty helping people. Doctors became prisoners of the system, the bravest ones came to Maidan trying to change the situation.

I was crying that night... My nerves could not handle it. And being an anesthesiologist I am pretty used to death. But you cannot watch a young boy having his brain flying out of his head...

Volodymyr ended up saving lives of those wounded in Instytutska street on February 20th. Only thanks to dedication of people like Volodymyr it was possible not to let the number of deceased grow.

I saw that man fell down and still shaking for a while... I did not want revenge, but I wanted justice for that man. He only wanted better future for his country.

  • Ruslan Horobets

    Maidan doctor

Ruslan comes from a family of medics and police workers, he has followed their steps of becoming a surgeon and candidate of medical sciences. The government of Yaunukovich forced him to pay bribes to the local mafia in order to be able to run his medical department. This could no longer continue. After the start of revolution Ruslan worked two shifts: one at the hospital, one as a volunteer medic in Maidan.

I apologize for this comparison, but it was like McDonald's: we were just waiting for a vacant table to treat the wounded...
